Some thousands of kilometers away from our country lies the beautiful island continent of Australia. The natural beauty and wildlife of the country attracts millions of tourists every year from around the globe. But in the later half of 2019 struck a catastrophe that is destroying the country by the minute till date - the Australian Bushfire.

Reasons owing to climate change, the dense forests of Australia have set ablaze claiming the lives of over 18 people and half a billion animals. They have scorched millions of acres of land and charred thousands of homes forcing the people to the streets.

But as there’s a silver lining in each situation, there is one here too. And that is the strength of humanity. Help has been pouring in from the locals and people all around the world to help resurrect the evacuated. Celebrities too are donating generously and actively to the cause and are also encouraging others to do so. If this is not a good time to use the power of their reach, then we don’t know when it is! And they have been rightly putting it to use. Here are a handful who are working out creative ways to do more:

Our thoughts and prayers are with those across Australia who are continuing to face the devastating fires that have been raging for months. From areas we are personally connected to such as the communities and people we visited in New South Wales in 2018, to the fires in California and parts of Africa, we are struck by the increasingly overlapping presence of these environmental disasters, including of course the destruction of the Amazon which continues. This global environmental crisis has now been described as Ecocide. It’s easy to feel helpless, but there’s always a way to help.
